PTKS steel rolling mill

Cilegon, Indonesia

On behalf of the Indonesian steel producer PTKS, the German rolling mill supplier SMS group built a new hot strip rolling mill with a length of about 400 meters at the Cilegon location, approximately 150 km southeast of Djakarta. In addition to the rolling mill, the project also includes a complete water management system, switch houses, control stations and further operating and administration buildings. The civil engineering planning of such a complex plant for the Indonesian location has specific features and challenges, so that HOCHTIEF Engineering already assessed the civil engineering risks in the bidding phase on behalf of the client. By later also commissioning the structural engineering implementation planning for the most important buildings of the structural facilities to be supplied by SMS, the results of the pre-engineering could be implemented smoothly. In April 2021, the plant with an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons of hot-rolled steel strip was fully commissioned.
